97.1 and 10TV are proud to sponsor the Declaration of Independence Tour. Join 97.1 at the Columbus Metropolitan Library (Main Branch) located at 96 South Grant, on Friday, March 12th from 10am-12pm to view a copy of the Declaration of Independence. The exhibit hours are from 9am-6pm.
This copy of the Declaration of Independence is only one of 24 known copies left. It was discovered a few years ago by a garage sale patron who bought a piece of art to use the frame. When he pulled back the art, the Declaration was inside. The man, who bought the art for $4.00 turned around and auctioned it off for $2 million dollars. The buyer, Norman Lear of All In the Family fame, wanted to make sure that all Americans have a chance to see it, thus his foundation along with Home Depot have sent it on a nationwide tour.
So join us for this once in a lifetime chance to see the document that inspires people to see citizenship as an opportunity to participate in civic life, exercise ther rights and above all, vote.
While you’re there you can register to vote with 97.1 and the League of Women Voters. You’ll also see actors in period dress and children will be able to participate in vote related activities.
